Edgar founded what is now Madsen O’Meara & Company in 2003. Edgar graduated from the University of Minnesota with a major in international agricultural trade policy and went on to earn his MBA in accounting from the University of St. Thomas. His career comprises more than 25 years of tax and financial planning experience, including trust tax and accounting. As president of Madsen O’Meara & Company, Edgar oversees the strategic vision and development of the firm, as well as client service and marketing initiatives. Edgar is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Minnesota Society of Public Accountants, and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. Edgar is active in his church, where he has served on elder boards and finance committees. In a 2011 missionary trip to Ghana, he taught principles of accounting and business. Married and father of two children, Edgar also counts hunting, reading and hockey among his leisure pursuits.
Joe became a partner in Madsen O’Meara & Company in 2004. A graduate of Marquette University’s College of Business Administration, Joe’s career experience has included accounting and financial management in the software and IT sector, as well as manufacturing for the medical device and horticultural industries. Joe is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants. Away from the office, Joe and his spouse raise a small domestic menagerie that includes three dogs and a pair of cats. Joe also counts gardening, gourmet food, wine, socializing with family and friends, and exercise among his pleasures.
Sheri joined our predecessor firm Schachtman and Assoc. in 1998 and became part of the Madsen O'Meara team in 2005. In her role as staff accountant, Sheri is responsible for all aspects of client service including payroll, write-up, compilation, and review, as well as personal, corporate and partnership income tax. Her industry expertise includes restaurants and bars, manufacturing, and distribution. Sheri’s experience includes 16 years of working in the internal accounting departments of industries. Sheri’s interests outside the office include baking, gardening, and aquatics.
Hugh joined Madsen O’Meara & Company in 2005, following 14 years of service with predecessor firm Schachtman and Associates. Hugh's professional duties include preparation of tax returns, write-up, compilation, and review. A graduate of St. Paul College with a certification in accounting, Hugh has more than 21 years of experience and expertise in tax preparation. Hugh is past president of the Temple of Aaron Men’s Club, and also enjoys cycling and singing in men’s choir in his leisure time.
